Patterns of History 1840-1899

Authentic nineteenth-century pattern. Step-by-step sewing instructions are illustrated with easy-to-follow drawings. The instruction guides describe historically-accurate sewing techniques, though modern alternatives are offered on some steps. The envelope lists appropriate fabrics, colors, and color combinations called from nineteenth-century fashion magazines. Modern fabric suggestion are also made. Information on the garment's fashion era, as well as suggestions about appropriate hair and hat styles, accessories, and under-clothing are made in the illustrated "Period Notes" that follow the instructions. Directions are also given for any required undergarments such as bustles or petticoats.
